Interesting Statistics

by Daphne Banks

Daphne and Peter Banks had three babies (two girls and one boy) in their own house in a period of one year. Out of those babies, 2 were Local adoptions and 1 was Internationally adopted. The adoptive parents of two of those babies are still in contact with us. From our International couple we still receive donations on a regular basis in the form of clothing and toys for the children of Africa. Our Local couple visit the Babyhouse at least once every 6 months to give us the oppurtunity to play with our little "Flower".

We have now been in the Babyhouse for one year. In this time, 23 babies (nine boys and seventeen girls) were or are still nurtured and cared for. The statisics look like this: Local Adoptions - seven babies, International Adoptions - three Babies. This give us a total of ten adopted babies in one year!

Four babies were re-united with their biological family. One of those babies we still have daily contact with due to her mother being a full-time volunteer with us and one other receive monthly support from eSimphiwe. One of these babies have just left and we hope to have contact with her and her extended family. One baby we have not heard from since she left.

One of our babies is in foster-care. We have constant contact and are praying with the parents that the permission for adoption will be issued within the next year.

We had two deaths in the house of two preemie babies who did not survived. As it was quite a new experience for all in the house, we were trumatised but have learned to accept that all who arrive at our door does not have the same outcome in life. We are pleased that we were chosen to have loved and hold these babies for their short time on earth.

Currently in the house we have six crisis babies and one foster child. For the first time since we started there are more boys (4) than girls (3) in the house!
