Please join us in our hopes and dreams to nurture babies on a one to one basis and give them a chance of placement within a loving family of their own. We cannot save the world, but the babies we do save might just make the world a better place
- Frequently Asked Questions -
Question:
Where do you get the babies from?
Answer:
Babies are placed under our care in one of two ways:
By a court detention order appointing us as the place of safety for the child. This is usually arranged through one of the Child Care Societies or Child Welfare during normal working hours.
After normal working hours, by the police on a temporary basis until the court issues the detention order.
Question:
What must I do if I find an abandoned baby?
Answer:
Contact the police and arrange to make a statement regarding the circumstances under which you found the child and to request a Form 4. In your own interest make sure the police give you a Form 9 which you then take to the district surgeon with the child to have him certify the medical status and circumstances of the child.
Question:
What if I do not want to get involved after finding the baby?
Answer:
Take the baby to the nearest police station and let them take care from then. You will be required to make a statement.
Question:
Does the home find parents for the babies?
Answer:
This is handled by the local Children's Society as no adoptions or fostering can be arranged other than by a registered social worker.
Please realize that no adoptions can be arranged other than by the services of a registered social worker appointed by the Children's Society under who's jurisdiction the child is found.
Question:
How does one adopt or foster a child?
Answer:
You make an application to the Children's Society in your area, who will screen you as a prospective parent. Contact us for assistance in finding your local Children's Society.
Question:
Can I as a single parent adopt a child?
Answer:
Many children are now adopted by single parents, and this does not preclude you from making application to your local Children's Society.
Question:
Can I adopt a child from a culture other than my own?
Answer:
Cross cultural adoptions are granted, but the preference is for same culture adoptions.

I don't want to adopt a child, so what other options are available to me as I want to care for a child?
